It’s time to make some fireworks! No not the kind that explode (are you insane?) but some fireworks inspired crafts and snacks
3-D Fireworks Picture
(From Sherri Osborn,Your Guide to Family Crafts at About.com)
Materials Needed:
- Heavy Black or Dark Blue Paper
- Glue
- Glitter (preferably red, white, and blue)
Instructions:
- This is an easy craft idea! Squeeze the glue from the bottom onto the paper. Try to make firework (starburst-type) designs.
- After you make the designs with the glue, sprinkle the glitter on the glue to make your fireworks sparkle!
- You can also use a paint brush or q-tip to “paint” on your design and then add the glitter. If your glue is runny, use a straw to blow the glue around the paper.
Fire Cracker Snack Recipe
(From Sherri Osborn,Your Guide to Family Crafts at About.com)
Make a tasty fire cracker snack using a Hostess Brand Twinkie, frosting, and licorice.
Ingredients:
- Hostess Brand Twinkie or Similar Cake
- Red, White, and Blue Frosting
- Red, Shoe String Licorice
Directions:
- Cut a 3-4 inch length from a licorice piece.
- Poke one end of this piece into one of the ends of the Twinkie. This should look like the fire cracker’s wick.
- Now, decorate the fire cracker with whatever design you like using the frosting!
These ideas are great for doing outside where no one will care about the mess. For more great Fourth of July inspired crafts, go to Independence Day Crafts at About.com.
