My Favorite Book from Childhood
D’Aulaires Book of Greek Myths was a favorite from around the time I was in third grade. I constantly got it out of the school and local public libraries. I wrote book reports on it and carried this rather large and heavy book all over school.
I never owned a copy of D’Aulaires Book of Greek Myths until recently when I came across a copy at a local bookstore. The kids were with me when I bought it. I told Nathan that this was my favorite book from my childhood. He was so impressed with this fact that he excitedly showed his dad the book that evening, exclaiming "Daddy, this was mommy’s favorite book from when she was a kid like me."
I think I was attracted to the beautiful illustrations as well as the stories. Like it’s companion book, D’Aulaires’ Book of Norse Myths, it sits on my bedside table, giving me the chance to occasionally dip into it and read Nathan and Lucie some of the shorter tales.

Great book choice! I’ve never read this particular one, but when I was in 3rd grade, my grandmother gave me a book called Myths and Legends that had Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian myths, and it started an obsession that has continued on to this very day.
That sounds like such a great book! And how cute that your son was excited that it was your favorite book when you were young!
