Tracey C. over at Picture This left me this comment last week:
Just a quick thanks for listing the Marc Brown preschool book. I picked it up last night and love it. I plan to use it here in the next few weeks to help get my daughter even more excited (and less nervous) about starting preschool. She loves DW so that makes it even better!
The book she mentioned, D.W.’s Guide to Preschool, has been sitting in my sidebar for a couple of months. With only two weeks to go, Lucie and I have started reading it. (I also recommend D.W.’s Guide to Perfect Manners with a lovely little manners quiz in the back of the book). As we read, Lucie adds her own commentary about preschool, including the exploits of her two imaginary sisters, Maddie and Sadie.
Samantha Critchell of the Associated Press (featured in the Denver Post) offers up these books to help alleviate first day jitters:

So now that you ready for school, what kind of lunches are you going to pack? See my post tomorrow!

We love “the Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn. Thanks for all the suggestions. We still have 3 weeks of summer! I am packing camp lunches this week so am anxious to hear about your lunch ideas!
My kids usually buy lunch because they have on average a pretty healthy lunch at school. They are lucky they have the same chef every year and he is awesome. Once in a while though they get in a kick where they want to bring. They both like pb&j, with carrot sticks and ranch, and juice pack. They like wraps to like turkey, lettuce, cheese and ranch or mayo rolled up in a tortilla. I also try to find fruits they will eat to throw in there. Granola bars work as a main meal if you surround the rest of the lunch with cut up veggies and dip, and fruit.
You always remind me that there are more books out there than just the ones I read when I was a kid.
Gotta break out of my mold and find some new stuff for Hailey.
Good recommendations!
