Sleeping Beauty Week: Walt Disney releases Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition DVD
Can it really be 50 years since Sleeping Beauty was released in theaters? Wow.
To celebrate, on October 7, 2008 Disney will release the first-ever Disney Classic Animated feature in high definition. For the first time ever, Sleeping Beauty is available in a two-disc standard DVD edition and a two-disc Blu-ray HD version.
Here’s the trailer for the 50th anniversary release:
The two-disc Blu-ray Hi-Def release includes a bonus standard DVD of the movie in the same package. So if you’re planning to get a Blu-ray for the holidays (hear that Santa?) you don’t have to wait. You can enjoy the movie now and won’t have to buy a Blu-Ray version later when you upgrade.
If you’re a smart parent, you’ll tell your daughter – for it’s a very girly movie – that Santa promises to bring Sleeping Beauty for Christmas. Take advantage of the special sales, buy it now, then stash it in the closet next to the Blu-Ray player you bought on sale for your spouse.
My Readable Feast’s Sleeping Beauty Week
Disney is so excited about this release that they’ve sent me a bunch of video clips to share as well as a downloadable coloring sheet and tea party instructions. So I’m declaring a “Sleeping Beauty Week” at My Readable Feast with a small detour for World Egg Day on Wednesday.
(And don’t forget my contest for a free ebook from EcoBrain!)
Stay tuned and enjoy another movie clip:
Maleficent scared the heck out of Lucie and me when we watched the review copy that Click-comm.com sent us. She’s one of the best Disney villains ever and can give Cruella De Vil a run for her money. Though I think Cruella’s a lot more fun, don’t you?
