I’ll be willing to bet you are overweight. Most of us are. Whether it’s a few extras pounds or a whole bunch, we’re fat. The fast food giants and junk-food manufacturers spend billions convincing us to eat their food. Even the so-called reduced fat kind are filled with calories. So we just eat more of those anyway, thinking we are cheating the scale. Restaurant portions are huge and my wife and I usually bring half home. But the rest of you don’t. So, what am I saying here? You might go back to eating unhealthy food throughout the day if you don’t eat breakfast. Eating yogurt for breakfast is better than nothing. It’ll increase your metabolism in the morning that’ll help you lose weight.

Keep your mind occupied at night — Many people have a bad habit of eating when they’re bored. They get home at night and “zone out” in front of the TV, often with a bag of chips or cookies at their side. It’s called “mindless snacking” and it’s a huge cause of weight gain, especially in america. Avoid the tv all together and replace it with something more interesting, like reading a good book, writing letters to friends, or doing a favorite hobby.

Studies have shown that those who eat breakfast everyday are much more likely to keep extra weight off and also that breakfast is a must for a diabetic to keep their blood sugar at a healthy level. But make that a healthy breakfast! Skip the donuts, sweet rolls, sugary cereals, etc. Have some oatmeal with fresh fruit, an omelet, whole grain toast or English muffin, or a whole-grain cereal with a sugar substitute instead of sugar!! Top the cereal with fat-free milk or soy milk.

If you like having sandwiches for lunch and dinner, what you can do is to add lettuce, peppers, onions and tomatoes with ham or even a burger. You can also have vegetable soups such as squash or tomato for lunch or dinner. If you are the type of person who doesn’t like eating having stuff at dinner, then you can just have a salad. Just toss some lettuce, tomatoes, onions and carrots in a bowl, add a low-fat dressing and you dinner is already served.

Burritos – These can be customized to start your day with a healthy option. Choose the wrap that is whole grain and the filling should have low carbs. Fill it with eggs, low fat sour cream and handful of boiled beans. Eating burritos in the morning is a great idea to start your day with a healthy and tasty meal.
